Court grants Naira Marley N2 million bail

The Federal High Court in Ikoyi has granted Nigerian Musician Azeez Fashola (popularly known as Naira Marley) bail.
Justice Nicholas Oweibo, who presided over the bail hearing on Thursday afternoon, granted the singer bail in the sum of two million naira and two sureties.
This was after he listened to the arguments of the defence and prosecution counsels.
At the resumed bail application, the singer’s counsel, Olalekan Ojo, apologised for his absence at the initial arraignment on May 20 due to heavy downpour.
Mr Ojo urged the court to accept the bail application based on the presumption of his innocence in accordance with Section 162 (1) He also pleaded that a liberal approach is taken in hearing the bail application.
The prosecution counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo, however, argued that it is not the temporary release of the singer that mattered but the final judgment.
He, therefore, urged the court to grant accelerated hearing rather than bail.
He added that since the lawyer of the defendant said the defendant is a celebrity, then his actions and inactions have a multiplier effect on youth across Nigeria.
The trial was adjourned to October 22, 23 and 24 for accelerated hearing.
GoldmyneTV reported how Naira Marley was arrested by the anti-graft agency, EFCC, for alleged internet fraud.
The musician is popular among young Nigerians, but his music has been condemned by many for glorifying internet fraud.

We can't afford to fail Lagosians, Sanwo-Olu tells workers .Promises to Address Concerns of Workforce on Minimum Wage

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Thursday urged workers in the State to brace up and contribute their quota to the development of the State, saying that they cannot afford to fail Lagosians at this critical point.
Speaking at a meeting with Civil Servants and Permanent Secretaries during his familiarisation tour of offices in the Secretariat, Alausa, Governor Sanwo-Olu acknowledged that there were challenges, but urged the workers not to be deterred and imbibe the right attitude to work.
"I just want to say to Lagosians that new things will begin to happen. Yes, there are issues and that is why there is a word ‘issue’. There will be issues, there will be challenges but out of it, looking at all your faces, we cannot afford to fail the citizens at this period.
"So, my charge is this: whatever we know that we are not doing so well even in the period of Ramadan, let's ask God for forgiveness,’’ he said.
The Governor, who was accompanied by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat and the Head of Service (HOS), Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola acknowledged the rousing welcome from Civil Servants and heads of parastatals who had gathered as early as 8a:m to receive him (the Governor).
Earlier, the HOS had introduced the Governor to the workers after which they accompanied him on a walk to the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, where they sang different songs to his delight.
The Governor also advised the workers to be change agents, assuring them that their concerns would be addressed, but that the workforce must reciprocate his good intention through hard work and innovations to bring about the desired changes and development.
"I know that when we take care of you, you will take care of Lagosians and so those are the promises I want to draw from all of you.
I know all these because I have been here before but let us begin to think and innovate on how we are going to bake a bigger cake; let us begin to think out of the box and when we do that it becomes available for all," the Governor said.
He gave assurance that issues surrounding the minimum wage would be addressed, promising to ensure that the take-home pay of workers will truly take them home.
"On the issue around the minimum wage, we are going to sort that out very soon and I will make sure that whilst we do the work that we are meant to do, your take home will begin to take you home, but Lagosians have to feel it from day one from the way we speak to them and from the way we take their records."

Prophet Joshua Iginla Set To Build 100,000-seater city of wonders in South Africa

+‘’Why I gave to the widows on my birthday’
The General Overseer of Champions Royal Assembly, Prophet Joshua Iginla has acquired acres of Land worth Millions of dollars In a choice location at South Africa to build a 100-000 capacity building for another city of wonders, a better replica of the 80,000 capacity city of wonders he built in Abuja.
He revealed this information during his birthday celebration on Sunday, 26th Of May, 2019 at his Abuja Church.
The Prophet who just acquired a multi-billion naira Private Jet revealed that there is need to have a building of such capacity due to the massive growth of the church in South Africa and for the convenience of every member of the church.
It would be recalled that in 2015, when Prophet Joshua Iginla built the 80,000 capacity city of wonders in Abuja, he made it known that the building can be likened to a primary school of his ministry and that God is leading him to build more and true to his word, Progress has indeed happened.
‘’ I got the revelation about the City of Wonders in 1996. The whole building as it is now is just 13 months. A lot of people asked if it is indeed a 80,000 seater and I can tell them that indeed it is but you can’t describe it until you visit the place. Let me shock you more. This is not the promised land God is taking me too. The City of Wonder is just my primary school in the journey of my ministry’’
Furthermore, during the birthday celebration, apart from unveiling his Private Jet, Prophet Joshua Iginla, like he has always done, gave out millions of Naira to widows and the needy. He also gave out landed properties to several widows and pastors with a promise of building structures on it.
According to checks, he dashed out N150,000 each to 142 widows which amounts to 21Million Naira and also gave them a bag of rice each.
It has begin to wonder a lot of people on why Prophet Joshua Iginla keeps on rolling out millions for the widows often? However, he has made it known that he would have lost his life some years back if not for the widows.
‘’I would have passed to the world beyond but I heard a voice that told me that I will not die because the prayers of widows have saved me. l resolved from that day to be a blessing to widows during my birthdays”
Prophet Joshua Iginla is widely known for his massive philanthropic activities, his accurate Prophecies and his apt teachings.

Sanwo-Olu signs executive order on enforcement of traffic, sanitation matters

...Directs LASTMA to Operate Two Shifts a Day, Control Traffic Till 11p.m
...Orders Public Works to Commence Immediate Fixing of Potholes on Lagos Roads
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu today signed his first Executive Order to address the issue of traffic control and management, fixing of potholes on the roads, sanitation as well as cleaning of drainages in the State.
The Order is to also ensure the attainment of zero tolerance for environmental abuse, including illegal
and indiscriminate dumping of refuse and construction of structures on drainage points and setbacks.
While signing the Order, the Governor declared: "I think we have to make some points about issues that happen around transportation, potholes on our roads, blockages and rest of it, I think its something we need to tackle immediately".
The Governor, who signed the Executive Order in the presence of Security Chiefs and the Heads of relevant agencies in the State, stressed that the support and cooperation of military personnel cannot be overemphasised especially in the implementation of the Order.
“Lagosians are not going to wait for us any longer to maintain orderliness on our roads hence, I have invited all the Security Chiefs to witness the signing of the Executive Order so that they can hear us and support us in this regard,’’ he said.
Governor Sanwo-Olu has, therefore, directed the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) to operate a minimum of two shifts by managing traffic until 11:00pm daily.
"We want to ensure that we control traffic until everybody gets home safely. LASTMA should, therefore, extend its working hours and ensure traffic control till 11p.m," he said.
Sanwo-Olu also charged LASTMA to effectively carry out their functions by ensuring strict compliance with all extant traffic rules and regulations as prescribed in the enabling law, adding that another pronouncement would be made soon to address the issue of one-way driving on Lagos roads.
Similarly, he directed the Office of Drainage Services in the Ministry of the Environment to commence aggressive cleaning of all secondary and tertiary drainage systems across the State to ensure the free flow of rainwater during the rainy season, just as he directed the Lagos State Public Works Corporation to commence patching and rehabilitation of bad roads.
According to the Governor, the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps has been directed to address the environmental issues in the Executive Order by not necessarily arresting the people but engaging them in effective communication on the need to ensure compliance with the environmental laws.
“Environmental offenders are not meant to be arrested, but communicate with them; the one that we need to reprimand, let us reprimand, the ones we need to advise, let us advise. The people that need to be reformed, reform them,’’ he said, explaining that it is when all these had been done that the law can be implemented fully.
Sanwo-Olu directed the Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS) to be more communicative and advisory on issues of bad vehicle wipers, spare tyres and non-provision of jacks in vehicles, among others.
"These are issues you need to communicate to people, that as we approach the rainy season they must ensure that their wipers are working and their spare tyres are in good condition," he said.
The Governor further directed LASTMA to come up with recommendations regarding their partnership with private operators of towing vehicles as well as collaborate effectively with LRU to ensure quicker response time to removing broken down vehicles from the roads.

B-R-E-A-K-I-N-G! SANWO-OLU'S INAUGURATION: JOURNALISTS RAISE EYEBROWS

A section of Lagos-based  journalists have raised concerns, over the irregularities in accrediting Journalists, for the inauguration of the Governor-elect of Lagos State;Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The media professionals, who got notifications of media accreditation,to cover the inauguration;slated for 29th of May,2019 at Tafawa Balewa Square,Victoria Island, Lagos were said to have disappointed,by the kangaroo arrangements put in place, by Sanwo-olu's media aides.

It is gathered that,Journalists were initially told that, the accreditation would take two days;prior to the event. Surprisingly however, the whole thing became  a failure, right from the first day,as a result of nepotistic gestures, from Sanwo-olu's media team.

One of the aggrieved journalists;Okunlegbe John who scale the rigours of getting registered  said "the whole process is a flop and an eyesore. I can tell you that,a process that was supposed to last for 5 hours daily, came to an abrupt conclusion barely 2hours into the accreditation."

Okunlegbe, while speaking on the roles of  Sanwo-olu's media team lamented that," It is unimaginable that, event as magnificent and important as this inauguration has been flawed by avoidable irregularities.

The total number of online, broadcast and print journalists were not up to 150 persons, but it is saddening that,Journalists were held to ransom, accreditation tags were hoarded ,and media professionals who are to project the image of the government were treated with utmost disdain. I put it to the incoming governor that, with the body language of his media team,he has started on a nepotistic footing, which is detrimental to his administration's public image."

From our findings, it was gathered that, close to 30% of the tags used for accreditation were hoarded,or kept aside in Sanwo-olu's media team's custody, for personal purposes, or to be given out to their friends within and outside media industry.

Some of the aggrieved  media practitioners, who chose to speak under anonymity said that,it is disheartening and unprofessional of Sanwo-olu's media team,to treat journalists with such highhandedness, stressing that,a lot of them came from far and near, only to be treated preferentially .

One of our sources, quoted a member of the inauguration team as saying "some media houses and their journalists are more important to us"

In contrast to that of Lagos, information reaching us claims that, over 500 journalists have stormed Ogun State, for the inauguration of the state's Governor-elect; Dapo Abiodun.

From the foregoing,we appeal to the incoming governor of Lagos,Babajide Sanwo-Olu,to be proactive against corruption tendencies within his media team,in order to avoid media disputes and public misconceptions.

Buhari Fails To Deliver Inauguration Speech

President Muhammadu Buhari has set a new record by being the first democratically elected leader in the history of Nigeria not to deliver an inaugural speech.
The President and his deputy, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, both took the oath of office between 10 and 11am on Wednesday, May 29, 2019.
The norm since the inauguration of the late Prime Minister, Sir. Abubakar Tafawa-Balewa, has been for democratically elected leaders to address Nigerians and inform the nation of their plans and offer words of assurances to the people.
Tafawa-Balewa delivered the first of such speeches on October 1, 1960 after the union jack had been lowered.
In the speech, he praised the resilience of Nigerians during the over 60 years of colonialism and also thanked foreign countries for supporting the nation in its drive for independence.
Nigeria’s second democratically elected leader, Shehu Shagari, also delivered inaugural speeches on October 1, 1979 and October 1, 1983 upon his re-election.
In the first speech, Shagari called on all politicians, regardless of party affiliation, to unite to make Nigeria one and to also ensure that military rule never returned.
In his second inaugural speech in 1983, Shagari said the past four years had brought Nigeria peace and stability. The task for the new administration, he said, ”will no more involve the erection of a system but rather to ensure efficient working of that system.”
He was removed in a coup by Gen. Muhammadu Buhari less than three months thereby marking the end of the Second Republic.
In the Fourth Republic, Olusegun Obasanjo, in his own inaugural speech on May 29, 1999, vowed that there would be no sacred cows in his government and he would fight corruption to the best of his ability.
In his second inauguration in 2003, Obasanjo thanked his deputy, Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, and members of his cabinet for the successes he had recorded especially in the area of economy and improving the standard of living of Nigerians.
In Umaru Yar’Adua’s speech delivered on May 29, 2007, the President admitted that the election which ushered in his administration was flawed and promised to focus on electoral reform.
Upon Yar’Adua’s death in 2010, his deputy, Goodluck Jonathan, was sworn in on May 6, 2010, and in his speech, he promised to continue with Yar’Adua’s agenda especially in the area of electoral reform and fighting corruption.
The following year, Jonathan was inaugurated for a fresh term of four years on May 29, 2011.
In the speech, the President thanked Nigerians for making history by voting in a person from a minority tribe as President.
In his own inaugural speech on May 29, 2015, Buhari, who made history as the first opposition politician to be voted into power, delivered the memorable speech, ‘I belong to everybody and I belong to nobody’.
However, upon his swearing-in on May 29, 2019, Buhari merely took the oaths of office and allegiance, inspected the guards’ brigade, jumped into his convoy and left

BREAKING news: How Nigeria former President Olusegun Obasanjo, 393 Others Escape Crash On Ethiopian Airlines

Olusegun Obasanjo, former Nigerian president and other Nigerians escaped death on Wednesday at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport when an Ethiopian Airlines plane almost crashed.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that other prominent Nigerians in the Ethiopian airline passenger aircraft, Boeing 777-300, included the Director General of Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) Ambassador Ayoola Olukanni.

Also in the plane was Prof Samson Tunde Adebayo, the Director of Ports Inspection, National Agency For Food And Drug Administration And Control (NAFDAC) as well as scores of Nigerians and other nationals.

The passenger aircraft, ET-901, had departed the Bole International Airport, Addis Ababa, at about 9:10 a.m., Ethiopian time; 7 a.m Nigerian time.

A NAN correspondent, who was among the passengers, recalled that the almost 5-hour flight from the Ethiopian capital to Lagos had been smooth until the pilot attempted to land at the Murtala Mohammed International airport.

Rather than landing on the first touchline of the runway, the pilot over short it, due to rain and heavy wind, landing on the third touchline.

NAN reports that, on realising this, the pilot quickly manouvered the plane back air, flying out of the Lagos airport.

After hovering around between Lagos and areas suspected to be in Ogun, causing panic in passengers and crew members, the plane landed in Lagos airport, some 20 minutes after the initial false landing.

The atmosphere in the airbus upon landing was replica of what is obtainable in some Nigerian worship centers, as many passengers broke out into worship songs and clapping, while some fell to their knees in prayer.

The duty manager and Chief Customer Service (Nigeria) of the airline, Mr Otori Jimoh Otan, told NAN that if the pilot had continued taxing down after landing on the third touchline, he would have overshot the runway.

“But this is an experienced pilot. He realised this immediately.

“Fortunately, the distance between when he realised the situation still permitted him to take off and renegotiate landing,” Otori said.

Obasanjo and Olukanni had both attended a Stakeholders Dialogue on Continental Trade and Strengthening Implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) which ended on Tuesday in Addis Ababa.
