As Lent fasting begins, Christians across Ogun state have been called upon to maximise the opportunities of the holy month to purse the path of glory, progress, growth and sustainable development in the interest of the state.

This was contained in a message sent to Christians faithful across the state by the Ogun state Chairman, Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle Owners And Riders Association Of Nigeria (ACOMORAN), Acon Kayode Amos Showunmi JP,  as the fasting starts on Ash Wednesday.

Showunmi, in a statement by the Association Public Relations Officer , Bureau of Communications, Aremo Akinlolu Agunbiade, said as a state, what the people, leaders and followers needed to do was to come together and forge a harmonious relationship for the betterment of the state.

He called on the Christians faithful to rededicate themselves to reproductive activities that are capable of positively affecting the state’s fortunes. He enjoined them to use the month to channel their energies towards rewarding activities.

He said: “This is a month of sacrifice, perseverance and austere discipline; a period of humility, sober reflection, prayer and shower of blessings.
“It is a period when we are supposed to close rank with God, the Creator.

“I implore Christians to maximize the abundant blessings inherent in the month and draw lessons in the month, which include spirit of commitment sharing, self-restraint, obedience and love of God, and apply them to our fellow human beings irrespective of ethnic and religious differences.

“We should therefore come together and iron out our differences and resolve with strong conviction to work together as peoples from diverse backgrounds but with a common destiny.”

He said this act would help the less privileged in the society and reduce hunger, poverty and misery confronting the people.
