Covid-19 : NGIJ commends LASG for bustops fumigation, appeal for more

The Nigerian guild of investigative journalist has commended the Lagos state government for fumigating bustops across the state in a bid to curtail the spread of Corona Virus but also appealed to the government to extend it to markets, airports, seaports, schools and churches.

In a statement signed by the spokesperson of the association, Obadimu Adeyemi, it is necessary to extend the fumigation exercise to all these places to ensure a total halt in the spread of the virus in the state.

‘’No doubt, the lagos state government have tried its best in containing the spread of the virus by fumigating bus-stops across the state, it is a very laudable move.

In as much as we appreciate this, there is need for the government to look into extending this act to other places where the virus might even spread faster. Places like schools, markets, airports, seaports, churches, to mention a few needs to be fumigated too In order to stop the discovery of new cases at all times.

The schools will resume soon, lockdown might be over soon too and churches will have to resume in full force, markets will be re-opened, if all these places are not fumigated, then we are not ready to bid farewell to Covid-19 in the state’.

It will be worthy of being noted that lagos state has the highest number of Covid-19 cases as numbers keep multiplying on a daily basis, hence, the need for a thorough fumigation in all strategic places in the state.
