A new drive of hope for our teeming youth has surfaced as the executive director of VTET Initiative for Nation Development, Mr. Adesanya Afeez Abiola register a Non governmental organization with the objective of promoting ideas and new innovative that would sustain our nation socio-economic development.
He says, the big question that resonates in the mind of all is:
"WHAT ALTERNATIVE PLAN DO WE HAVE FOR OUR NEXT-GENERATION i.e OUR CHILDREN APART FROM SCHOOLING"
He further opines that,
taking a good look at the past and present situation in the country, if care is not taking, it may be extremely difficult for the next-generation (children) to develop and harness their full potential as the environmental and economic situation of the country is not future friendly, and to sharpen their future to thrive in the competitive digital economy.
He however, recommends that, it's high time we genuinely ask ourselves the above
question as he maintains that the idea behind this initiative is to have an alternative plan for the next generation (children).
Mr. Adesanya, an advocate and a promoter of skill-up project for next generation and as a registered organization member of international vocational education and training (IVETA) USA, took time to enlightened Nigerians on what exactly does VTET means and he has these to say;
"Vocational Technical Education and Training (VTET) is a formal and informal education whose main purpose is to prepare someone for self-reliance, self employment and self development and to acquire employable skills through technical and vocational skills acquisition programs in a recognized organisation".
These skill acquisition programs we are talking about are as follows:
1. Inverter fabrication and installation.
2. Solar power fabrication, maintenance and installation.
3. Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning repair, maintenance and installation.
4. Auto Mechanical Works, Electrical and Mechanical Auto cad drawing, Aluminum designs, Tailoring /Fashion designing, Hair-dressing and stylist, Photo shooting and video editing, Shoes and bags making, bead making and Make-up Artistry etc.
He urges the general public particularly as a father, mother, guidance, mentor, that need be we start promoting, educating, encouraging our children to see vocational technical education and training as the master key and game changer for nation sustainable socio-economic development building as the reality facing this country suggest strongly that there is no guarantee for employment after schooling and also inculcate in them principles of thinking-outside-the-box but with V.T.E.T initiative, our Next-Generation have hope for a better future.
And the following 10 agendas are to be achieved from this initiative:
1. It would help Boost and develop the nation.
2. Drastically it would reduce yearly employment percentage in our nation.
3. It would create thousands of jobs.
4. It would Boost Small Medium Enterprises (SME’S).
5. It would Generation Revenue for the nation.
6. It would Bridge the gap between the rich and the poor.
7. It would help us discover more junior engineers and Technicians I.e our JETS student in our society.
8. It would help reduce crime in the society. Because" an idle man is devil's workshop".
9. It would help us reduce poverty in our nation.
10. It would reduce our country ranking on world poverty list.
Lastly, Mr. Adesanya advises that, IT'S TIME TO TAKE THE FUTURE OF OUR CHILDREN MORE SERIOUSLY AND bring to their subconscious mind need to shift focus on VOCATIONAL TECHNICAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING because it's sure the master key and a game changer for nation building.
