SECURITY OF LIVES AND PROPERTY IN LAGOS STATE: COMMANDANT EWEKA VISITS THE SECRETARY TO THE LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT MRS. FOLASHADE JAJI IN ALAUSA IKEJA LAGOS.

 *COMMANDANT EWEKA OKORO TODAY RECEIVES TWO ( 2 ) OPERATIONAL VEHICLES FROM LAGOS STATE SECURITY TRUST FUND ( LSSTF ).* 


He promises better and quality security services in Lagos State.


The Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Lagos State Command, Commandant Eweka Douglas Okoro, earlier today, Tuesday, 10th August, 2021, visited the Secretary to the Lagos State Government ( SSG ), Mrs. Folashade Jaji, in her office at Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos. 


The Commandant was warmly received by the Secretary to the Lagos State Government ( SSG ) and other members of her team. The SSG on behalf of the Executive Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency, Mr Babajide Sanwo - Olu praised the Commandant for his laborious effort towards ensuring improved security, since his resumption, in the state. They also had elaborate and robust discussion on several issues bothering on the protection of lives and property, protection of critical national assets and infrastructure as well as combating oil pipeline vandalism amongst others in the state.


Commandant Eweka also reiterated that the history of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps can not be separated from Lagos as "the Corps began in Lagos State, as Lagos Civil Defence in 1967, before attaining the full - fledged status of a paramilitary organization by the Act of Parliament in 2003 and the Corps became more empowered by the Act of 2007 as ammended," he said. The Commandant demanded for infrastructural and logistical supports from the Lagos State Government, in order to ensure quality and better delivery of security services to the good people of the state.


The Secretary to the Lagos State Government ( SSG ) also stated that the Government of Lagos State will do everything within its reach to ensure that the demands of the Command are looked into and attended to, in order to encourage the Corps, to continue to deliver quality and better security services in the state.

In another development, in the early hours of today's afternoon, the Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Lagos State Command, Commandant Eweka Okoro received two operational vehicles, colour ( blue ), type ( NISSAN) branded with Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( LOGO),  from the Lagos State Security Trust Fund ( LSSTF ).


The remarkable event done by the Lagos State Security Trust Fund today, is in line with the mission of the organisation to facilitating safety and security in Lagos State. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Lagos State Command has also been identified as one of the major security agencies, which takes the business of security and protection of lives and property very seriously, in the state.


The keys to the  two operational vehicles were presented to the Commandant, by Mr. Omotayo Bamgbose-Martins, Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Relations and Board Member of the ( LSSTF ), symbolising the warm and ceremonious reception of the operational vehicles at the State House in Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.


The Commandant was accompanied to the Lagos State House by Deputy Commandant Muslimah Malomo, Chief Superintendent of Corps Godonu Jacob and ASCI Abolurin Oluwaseun Olumide ( PRO ), to receive the two operational vehicles.


It is also pertinent once again, to mention the notable presence of Mr. Omotayo Bamgbose-Martins, Commissioner for  Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Relations and Board Member of the LSSTF,  Dr Gaji Omobolaji Tajudeen,

Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Relations and Mr. Degbola Lewis, Administrative Director, LSSTF at the Lagos State House, today, where the vehicles were handed over to the Commandant and other paramilitary agencies sighted such as the Federal Road Safety Corps, Nigeria Correctional Service and Lagos  Fire Service etc.


The Commandant seized the opportunity of the brief but apt ceremonious occasion to sincerely thank the Lagos State Government, the Lagos State Security Trust Fund and the good people of Lagos State for the magnanimous but crucial gesture. He promised that the news of this remarkable event will be adequately, succintly and promptly forwarded to the Commandant General Ahmed Abubakar Audi Phd mni, in the National Headquarters Abuja. 


Finally, the Commandant also promised that the operational vehicles will be put to good and judicious use in a bid to continue to combat crime and criminalities in the state. In addition, he promised to continue to render quality and better security services to the good people of Lagos State.
