Constitutional Lawyer and Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), Chief Itse Sagay has said that the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele has not breached any law for joining the presidential race.
The renowned lawyer made this known in a chat with Daily Trust Newspapers on May 6, 2022.
Prof Sagay explained that there is a court judgement that says you don’t have to resign until 30 days before an election.
The Legal luminary noted that such law has not been overturned.
He further explained that such law governs that situation for now until that is overturned.
“Emefiele has not breached any law for joining the race.
“There is a court judgement which has not been overturned that says you don’t have to resign until 30 days before an election.
“Until that is overturned, that is the law that governs that situation for now.” He said.
