The Aare Oluomo of Ekinrin-Adde, Chief Felix Akintunde Obafemi will Friday June 24, 2022 be ushered into the now famous, Omo- Atata Hall of Fame in Ekinrin-Adde.
Secretary General of Ekinrin-Adde Community Development Association, Elder Deinde Komolafe revealed in a public statement, that Obafemi is one of the five persons to be involved in this year's investiture into the hall of Fame.
Omo-Atata Hall of Fame was introduce by the EACDA last year, as a special recognition for sons and daughters of the community, who have done the community proud, in their chosen career.
Akintunde Obafemi was born on the 4th of March 1962 in Ekinrin-Adde into the family of High Chief M. O Obafemi and Madam Racheal Wuraola Obafemi (Mama Nigeria). He therefore hails from Odo Akodi Compound in Ekinrin-Adde.
He began his primary education at ECWA Primary School, Oke-Egbe in 1971 and finished in 1976, after which he proceeded to the then Junior Technical College, New Bussa to complete his Secondary/Technical education. He was admitted into the Kwara State College of Technology (Kwara Tech) now Kwara State Polytechnic (Kwara Poly) for his HSC.
While at the Institution, his exemplary and supersonic leadership qualities stood him out as well as his love for his community, Ekinrin-Adde which was why his colleagues unanimously elected him President of Ekinrin-Adde Students Union, Kwara State College of Technology branch, Ilorin. He equally joined his friends and peers to form the prestigious Falcon Club of Ekinrin-Adde, an initiative geared towards contributing to the development of Ekinrin-Adde. Upon the completion of his studies at Kwara Tech, Chief Felix Akintunde Obafemi proceeded to Belgium for further studies and within the space of a year in Belgium, he got a Diploma in the French Language from the Institut De Formation De Cards Pour Le Development (IFCAD) in Brussels.
In 1987, he relocated to the United Kingdom, where he enrolled at the London College of Further Education and was awarded a Diploma in Computing & Information Technology in 1994. He proceeded for his Higher Diploma in the same school and was so awarded in 1996.
Not done with education, he attended the City of London College of Higher Education where he specialised in Data Programming & Systems Analysis. He was admitted and elected a member of the British Institute of Commercial Management. Also as part of his feat, he was duly elected a member of the British Institution of Analysts & Programmers in 1997. From the foregoing, therefore, it could be said that Chief Felix Akintunde Obafemi is a Computer guru.
Chief Felix Akintunde Obafemi, upon the completion of his studies worked in Skytel Limited, Norwood London, an Information and Communication Technology outfit as the Senior Admin. Officer before joining the Nigerian High Commission, London.
He joined the Nigeria High Commission UK in the year 1996 and was posted to the immigration unit where he served meritoriously for ten years. He was then promoted and moved to the protocol unit of the commission where he worked and rose to an enviable height before his retirement. As a protocol officer, he served three High Commissioners dutifully, he worked as a protocol officer to Dr Dalhatu Sarki Tafida, and he then was promoted again as the principal and liaison officer to Justice Oguntade who became the new High Commissioner after Dr Tafida. While serving under Justice Oguntade as a principal and liaison officer, Justice Oguntade then made him the head of procurement of the commission as well as allowing him to perform his PLO duties. Chief Felix Akintunde Obafemi was again retained to continue in his duty as the principal and liaison officer to the new High Commissioner, Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Ishola a position he held until his retirement. Chief Felix Akintunde Obafemi now works as a consultant to Nigeria High Commission in the UK.
Chief Obafemi is a humanitarian to the core as he will not wait for a second to offer any kind of assistance to anyone deserving of it. And it is important to say that he is a rallying point for every Okun indigene in the U.K, especially indigenes of Ekinrin –Adde. He initiated the TGIF which is the meeting of all Ekinrin- Adde indigenes that hold in his house every Friday, where individual and collective needs are attended to in an atmosphere of love, fun and merriment. In fact, TGIF (Thank God It's Friday) is gradually becoming the rallying point for all Okun indigenes in the United Kingdom, as people even travel from outside London just to attend. And according to Chief Felix Akintunde Obafemi, he initiated TGIF to create a relaxed atmosphere for integration amongst our people, to be of best assistance to each other and to avoid getting involved in any act contrary to the law. He is seen as a legend by friends and allies and he said he owes all his achievements to God only. To the TGIF members, he is regarded as an epitome of excellence, a gift from God, an excellent philanthropist with extreme humility whose generosity is second to none and whose simplicity is fantastic. Indeed we bless the womb that conceived him for he is a gift to humanity. Little wonder why he is nick-named “Oba Forever”.
“Oba” as simply called by his close friends is the last of the children of Madam Rachael Wuraola Obafemi a.k.a Mama Nigeria. Oba is a family man who is married to a lovely daughter of Ekinrin-Adde, Chief Mrs Deborah Olaronke Obafemi and they are blessed with three wonderful children.
Chief Felix Akintunde Obafemi is a fellow of various professional bodies in the United Kingdom, Belgium and Australia, including the Royal Institute of Commercial Management, Bournemouth, England; The Institution of Analysts & Programmers; The R.I.P.A International just to mention a few. He is a fluent speaker of four international languages, which include English, Flemish, French and Spanish.
Chief Felix Akintunde Obafemi owing to his love and service to his community was conferred with an honorary chieftaincy title of "Aare Oluomo" and his wife was conferred with the title "Yeye Aare Oluomo of Ekinrin-Adde land on the 20th of June 2009 by the late Olu Adde Oba S.I. Hambolu.
