Ijebu Ode car winner in Glo promo rolls on the floor.

 

Temitope Bakare, the car winner in the Ijebu Ode edition of the Glo
Festival of Joy promo, kept rolling on the floor, shedding tears of joy
when she received her brand new car at a ceremony on Tuesday, December
13, 2022.

Before she eventually appeared to receive the prize, 27-year-old Bakare
had been called to inform her that her number was drawn as winner, but
she kept cutting off the calls made to her, fearing she was being
trailed by scammers. When the calls kept coming, she decided to switch
off her phone.

However, Globacom officials had to trace her records and thereafter
visited her Itaalaga Street, Ijebu Ode, address to fish her out. The
visit paid off as Bakare was eventually made to realize that she had hit
a jackpot in the Glo customer-appreciation promo. Explaining her initial
response she said, "I thought the calls were from fraudsters. Though I
dialed *611# short code and kept recharging, I never thought I could win
among millions of subscribers. This was why I decided to switch off my
phone to block further calls".

The entire community erupted in jubilation at the presentation ceremony,
while her relations and neighbours hugged her in excitement.
Incidentally, the winning SIM was a gift from the winner's 39-year-old
seamstress aunt, Mrs. Adijat Adesoye, who was also on hand with Temitope
's  54-year-old father, Mr. Moroof Bakare, and other members of her
extended family to  receive the prize.

Awolesi Olamide, a 19-year-old student of Business Administration at the
Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, and an indigene of Sagamu, won a
power generator. On what she is going to do with her prize, she said: "I
will take my generator to school". On her part, 28-year-old Motunrayo
Alausa, who won a sewing machine, said she would add it to her stock as
a tailor, while Seyi  Odunaike, a 42 -year-old Juju musician, thanked
Glo for the priceless gift.

The Globacom Regional Manager in Ogun State, Mr. Ikenna Aguwuom,
congratulated Bakare and other winners of prizes including generators,
sewing machines and rechargeable fans, noting that more winners will
emerge in the days ahead. He enjoined other Glo users to get on the
winning train saying, “customers just have to dial the dedicated short
code *611# and recharge with N500 weekly to stand a chance to win the
rechargeable fan, N2,500 monthly recharge for the Sewing Machine, N5,000
monthly recharge for the generator, and N10,000 monthly recharge for the
car and N20,000 for houses”.

The State Commissioner for Finance, Honourable Waheed Odusile, who was
special guest of honour at the occasion, said he was pleasantly
surprised to see the quality and quantity of prizes being presented to
subscribers at the event. He commended Globacom for its interest in the
welfare of its customers and their empowerment through the Festival of
Joy promo.

The representative of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Mrs.
Helen Sadiku, who witnessed the presentation ceremony, commended
Globacom's commitment to the execution of the promo.

Other guests at the ceremony included the former Commissioner for
Information in Ogun State, Chief Fassy Yusuff, Nollywood actors,
Odunlade Adekola and Bolaji Johnson, Amusan a.k.a Mr. Latin, and other
eminent indigenes of the ancient town, while popular comedian, Seyi Law,
compered the ceremony.
