Following the collapse of a 7-storey building under construction in Banana Island yesterday, the Lagos State government has moved swiftly to forestall a future occurrence. To this end,the government has ordered a stop to further construction of all buildings within the estate.
Investigation by this medium revealed that a directive given by the Lagos State Building Control Agency LASBCA ordering all construction sites to
' stop work' immediately is presently in place. This is to enable the Agency carry out further Impact assessment test on existing buildings under construction.
Furthermore, the Agency will also check if the ongoing projects within the estate meet the requirements approved by it.This is because the collapsed 7-storey building was said not to have been approved.
Apart from a handful of buildings under construction within the estate, most affected appears to be the *LUCREZIA* ,a Multibillion Naira 14-storey project of Lagos businessman, *Sijibomi* *Ogundele*(Sujimoto). The development is said to be giving the suave businessman a big worry. This is because the LUCREZIA is at its anchor stage with many of its investors already warming up to move into their apartments in a few months.
All that appears to have fizzled out presently as most of the property merchants whose buildings are affected by the government order including *Sujimoto* are said to be pulling some strings to have the order reversed .
The LUCREZIA By SUJIMOTO is a 14-storey ultra Luxury residential development located in Banana Island, Africa"s richest estate.
The building features a 16 units of 4 bedroom maisonette apartments and 2 Penthouses.
To own one of the 4- bedroom apartments,a buyer would have to forke out a princely 2.5million USD exclusive of other service charge which also run into several millions in naira.
