WASTE ACADEMY 1.0, GREEN SKILLS FOR TEENS AND YOUTHS IN BARIGA_ DONE BUT NOT DUSTED

August 21st, the journey began. We delved into the theoretical teachings of opportunities in waste, shedding light on how innovation and creativity can serve as a solution to a range of societal environmental challenges.

Our conversations highlighted the critical need for young minds to embrace  environmental consciousness. Together, we decided to build a chain of environmental conscious individuals across board; home, schools, religious centers, markets and our community at large.

From exploring innovative ways to upcycling waste materials ranging from bottles, nylons, papers, animal waste (cow horns), used clothes, plastics, buckets, tyres, coconut shell etc. 23rd of August, we got featured in the LAWMA newsletter, where we discussed our motivation and plans in the environmental space.

The crescendo of this transformative environmental journey was a  visit to the waste management center at National Armed Forces Resettlement Center (NAFRIC), Oshodi.

August 31st marked a pivotal chapter on this  journey of waste education, a whirlwind of emotions, Goodluck and not goodbyes, unforgettable memories as we wished the participants well on getting back to their communities.

Gratitude pours out to the exceptional facilitators who illuminated our path with their boundless knowledge, expertise, and hands on practicals.

A heartfelt shoutout to my amazing team who played an epich role in every facet of this program as  meticulously crafted to nurture our aim. I am immensely proud of this extraordinary team that shares my enthusiasm for driving sustainable change;  The Waste and Environmental Sustainability Team (W.E.S.T)
