IGLSA Condemns Attack on Governor Buni’s Convoy, Tasks Security Agencies on Proactiveness

The Institute for Governance and Leadership Studies in Africa, IGLSA has demanded thorough investigation into the criminal attack on the convoy of the governor of Yobe State, Dr. Mai Bala Buni who is a fellow of the institute.

The governor’s convoy was attacked last Saturday while returning from Maiduguri.

Dr. Lanre Adebayo, IGLSA’s Director General in a statement on Sunday  condemned the attack, describing it as an unfortunate occurrence.  The DG noted that such attack reechoes the need for more intelligence gathering  on the part of the security security forces.

‘’Attacking the governor’s convoy is a signal that criminals still look down on the capabilities of our security agencies. And it is on this note that we urge security management in the country to embark on modern intelligence gathering with the use of technology as this is the norm in any civilized clime’’’,  Adebayo said.

‘’The IGLSA is more saddened by the fact that the attack on the governor’s convoy was carried  on the same day governor Buni was being inducted as a doctoral fellow of Ithe foremost leadership institute’’.

Represented by the deputy governor, Hon.Idi Barde Gubana, governor Buni was on Saturday conferred with the highest honor of the institute as a doctoral fellow of IGLSA at the African University of Science and Technology in Abuja.
