Return to Europe speculated on

Shock switch to French capital ruled out

WHAT HAPPENED?

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner recently claimed that the Saudi Pro League, where he is currently turning out for Al-Nassr, is a stronger division that Ligue 1. Said comments raised plenty of eyebrows in France, but speculation quickly surfaced regarding a potential move to Paris for Portuguese GOAT Ronaldo.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

His eternal rival, Lionel Messi, spent two seasons with PSG after severing ties with Barcelona in 2021. It has been claimed that Ronaldo could tread a similar path as he returns to Europe after two goal-laden years in the Middle East.

DID YOU KNOW?

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has, however, rubbished the shock gossip, saying in a social media post: “Paris Saint-Germain are not in talks to sign Cristiano Ronaldo despite reports. Discussions not even taking place now.”

WHAT NEXT?

Ronaldo could still be on the move early in 2025 as his record-breaking contract in Riyadh is running down towards free agency. The evergreen 39-year-old is said to be open to the idea of taking on a new challenge, although Al-Nassr remain eager to put fresh terms in place.
