The Ukhomunyo Concerned Citizens have issued a fierce condemnation of the Edo State Commissioner for Labour, Hon. Godwin Eshieshi, accusing him of ungodly conduct, calculated deception, and deliberate attempts to sabotage Okpella’s ancestral heritage for selfish interests.
In a blistering statement, the group said Hon. Eshieshi has chosen to align himself with falsehood, provocation and disrespect for tradition, warning that his actions are fast turning him into a destabilising force in Okpella. They described his conduct as unbecoming, reckless and morally bankrupt, especially for a man occupying a sensitive public office.
The group condemned in the strongest terms Eshieshi’s shameless participation in what it described as Mike Sado’s “abominable and illegal coronation,” insisting that there is no king in Okpella until the Ukhomunyo kingship issue is properly resolved. According to the group, the commissioner’s actions amount to a direct assault on Okpella’s customs and a dangerous attempt to impose sacrilege on the people.
Ukhomunyo Concerned Citizens further accused the Labour Commissioner of meeting with known enemies of Okpella tradition, alleging that the purpose of the gathering is to mislead the state government on the current issue faced in Okpella. They said such behaviour exposes a deep disregard for truth, history and the collective will of the people.
The group also alleged that Hon. Eshieshi held a clandestine meeting with Mike Sado at Protea Hotel on December 16, 2025, describing it as part of a wider plot to mislead the Edo State Government and manipulate ongoing decision-making. “We are fully armed with verifiable information,” the statement warned, adding that the details would be put in a formal petitions submitted to the state government and relevant security agencies.
Describing Eshieshi’s actions as exploitative and predatory, the group accused him of feeding on Okpella’s pain for personal relevance and political survival. “He is old enough to know better and mature enough to learn from history,” the statement said, warning that repeated desecration of tradition has consequences.
The group called on sons and daughters of Okpella to remain vigilant but calm, stressing that the governor listens and acts. It warned Hon. Eshieshi to immediately withdraw from Ukhomuyio's matters, stop fanning embers of crisis, and respect the sacred customs of the land.
“Enough is enough,” the statement declared. “Okpella is not for sale. Our tradition is not a bargaining chip. History has taught us painful lessons, and we will not allow them to be repeated.”
