Boosting Morale and Loyalty: COAS Approves Major Welfare Upgrades for Special Forces

In a move designed to cement the fighting spirit and loyalty of Nigeria's elite troops, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has approved an immediate upgrade of living and training facilities for the 4 Special Forces Command. The announcement was made during his maiden visit to the cantonment in Doma on Tuesday.

Following operational briefings from Major General Olurotimi Azubuike Awolo and Brigadier General Umar Faruk Abubakar, the COAS demonstrated his commitment to the troops' well-being by sanctioning the construction of new accommodation blocks and other critical facilities. He stated that a "well-supported and professionally grounded force" is essential for maintaining operational superiority.

Lt. Gen. Shaibu linked these welfare improvements directly to the Army's foundational principles, assuring personnel that their welfare and that of their families is a top priority. This pledge of support was framed as a tangible demonstration of the Army’s commitment to those who have sworn allegiance to defend the country. By investing in their comfort and training, the COAS reinforced the bond of loyalty between the Army leadership, the troops, and their ultimate responsibility to the President, Commander-in-Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the Nigerian Constitution.
