Gateway Air and ValueJet Strengthen Ogun Air Connectivity with Daily Abuja–Lagos Service

Daily 6:30 a.m. flights offers the Business communities, industrialists, students visiting friends and

families Direct Link to Ogun State’s Commercial Hub, Says Majekodunmi

Lagos, Nigeria — ValueJet, in partnership with Gateway Air, the official state-owned airline of Ogun

State, has commenced a daily service connecting Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja to

Gateway International Airport in Iperu, Ogun State, via Lagos (Abuja–Lagos–Gateway).

The service provides a seamless link between Nigeria’s political capital and Ogun State’s commercial

and industrial corridor. Passengers can travel efficiently into Ogun State with the day available for

business meetings, industrial site visits, government appointments, personal engagements, and

other commitments.

The partnership brings together Gateway Air’s role in advancing Ogun State’s air connectivity and

ValueJet’s operational expertise to provide a consistent daily connection for travellers between FCT

and the state.

Speaking on the service, Omololu Majekodunmi, Managing Director, ValueJet, said the early morning

departure was designed around the needs of passengers with demanding schedules.

“Our daily Abuja–Lagos–Gateway service is about giving our passengers their day back. With the

option to fly 5 days a week. Whether you are travelling for business or personal engagements in

Ogun State and its environs, the service provides a route that fits around a busy schedule”.

Highlighting the state administration's vision behind the service, the Commissioner for

Transportation, Engr. Olugbenga Dairo, noted:

“Gateway Air services speak to the growing demand of residents, businesses, and visitors in Ogun

State for air connectivity to major commercial and population centers across the country. His

Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has therefore directed that the airline continually review and

optimize its schedule and fleet size in response to the needs, requirements, and expectations of

travelers.”

Ogun State has emerged as an important commercial and industrial corridor in Nigeria, driven by its

concentration of manufacturing, industrial estates, agricultural activity, logistics, real estate

development and economic free trade zones. Its proximity to Lagos, combined with the presence of

major businesses and industrial clusters across the state, has increased demand for efficient

connections for investors, business owners, professionals, government officials and other travellers.

Regular air access through Gateway International Airport provides another link into this large

economic corridor, reducing the dependence on longer road journeys for passengers travelling from

Abuja and other parts of Nigeria

The operation of this route aligns with ValueJet’s broader strategy of supporting key state

partnerships and expanding air connectivity. Alongside its own domestic network, ValueJet manages

operational partnerships and regional services to destinations like Accra and Banjul, with further

expansion planned to Libreville and beyond. Recent fleet additions, including Boeing 737NG and

CRJ-series aircraft, support this growing operational capacity across Gateway’s routes and ValueJet’s

wider network."
