Lagos APC Woos Rilwan Oloto Amidst Internal Crisis

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has been reported to be on the trail of the Oloto's golden boy of the moment, Rilwan Oloto, an inside source revealed plans to absorb the top youth mobilizer.

Recall that it was reported that Rilwan was in the news earlier over the pressure on him to contest in 2023.

The media practitioner has been in the news for community-based programs and projects which he has either selflessly carried out or in conjunction with his prestigious social circle, the Playmates Royale Club.

Lagos State is currently controlled by the APC, but the internal crisis rocking the state assembly has called for a reshuffling of structures with breeds of young politicians who are closer to the people.

An inside source has hinted newsmen that Rilwan may be the deciding factor in the APC scheme of things should the legislative house eventually break into factions.

The People's Democratic Party has, however, remain silent on the matter, and efforts to reach out to the coordinator of the Lagos Mainland prove abortive.

Reacting to the news, Rilwan Oloto stated, 'after appraising the party’s performance in the last general elections, it became clear that the APC had a lot to do in the state to win the 2023 election and subsequent polls in the state.

If the party had decided to bring in aggrieved, and new members and assign them roles for effective management of the party in the state, it will be in their interest, but I have not officially gotten any notice that suggests that I am being wooed or canvassed.
When the time is right, we shall intimate our people on what we have decided.

As part of measures to inform our people on our resolution in the state, we have concluded arrangements to convoke a conference to brainstorm on the way forward.

He said, “The idea is to see how we can redefine and reposition the state. We must take over power in this state. We are in business and we must be serious. We can’t continue to operate without carrying our people along.’

However, in a chat with newsmen, a member, who did not want to be named said the leadership of the party has weighed its options and resolved that having Rilwan run for the 2023 principal office in 2023 on its platform “would be a good thing for the APC considering his popularity among his people.”

Although APC would easily reactivate other options in the event that Rilwan chooses to stay put in PDP, a source said the Oloto son would brighten his chances of winning by contesting on its platform.
